Species attributed to open habitats (fields, grasslands), more on chernozem than on fluvisol soils in central Europe ( Jakubec & Růžička 2012, 2015) and steppe biomes in southern Russia( Pushkin 2015). Recently, Sikes et al. (2008) confirmed the synonymy of  N. confusus Portevin, 1924(described from west of Chinaand previously reported also from Turkey, Crimea, Caucasus and Transcaucasia—see Sikes et al. (2002)) with  N. sepultor. In Turkey, a single record is reported from Aydın Provincein Aegean Region, and several from the northwest of Eastern AnatoliaRegion ( Fig. 31).
