Typification and check-list of Musa L. names (Musaceae) with nomenclatural notes Häkkinen, Markku Väre, Henry Adansonia 2008 3 30 1 63 112   69.  Musa dechangensisJ.L.Liu & M.G.Liu   Acta Botanica Yunnanica 9: 163 (1987). — Type: China, Sichuan, Dechang, Xiaogao, alt.  1380 m,  2.XII.1984,  J. L. Liu& J. Q. Xiao179(holo-, XIAS).  REMARKS  Wu & Kress (2000)considered  Musa dechangensisas synonymous with  M. balbisianastating that “  M. dechangensisis indistinguishable from  M. balbisianain almost all aspects of bracts, fruit, and seeds. The slight differences given by the authors can be observed within  M. balbisianaand, therefore, do not support the recognition of this variant as an independent species”. Most recently, Liu et al. (2002)studied more herbarium material of  M. dechangensisand considered it to be identical with  M. basjoo, and that Wu’s analysis is flawed. The correct status of  M. dechangensisneeds to be re-evaluated. [363,492,1151,1174] 1984-12-02 J. L. Liu & J. Q. Xiao China 1380 Xiaogao Dechang 11 74 1 Sichuan holotype
