The female was stated to be the typeby Alayo (1973); however, Townes and Townes (1966: 39)had previously designated the male in ANSP as the lectotype, so the IES specimen is a paralectotype. Porter (1978)included this species within a distinctive Neotropical species-group of  Epirhyssa.
