Immature stages of this species are found mainly in water accumulated in tree holes ( Lane & Cerqueira 1942). In Venezuela, adults of  Sa. purpureuswere collected with human landing catches ( Berti et al. 2015). In the present study, immature stages of this species were collected in a sapucaia nut oviposition trap ( Coleção de Culicidae2023).  Arbovirus infection records. None.   Occurrence in Brazil.
