(Zool.), 68: 2.   Type Locality:  Laos, Khammouan Province, KhammouanLimestone National Biodiversity Conservation Area, Thakhek district, c. 18 kmN Thakhek, environs of Ban Muang and Ban Doy, 17°33’15’’N, 104°49’30’’E.   Vernacular Names: Long-eared Gymnure.   Distribution:Known only from the type locality.   Discussion:A very distinct species with long ears and a long skull. Jenkins and Robinson (2002)performed a phylogenetic analysis of skeletal characters of the species of Galericinaeand included five species in  Hylomys. They did not, however, consider paleontological data presented by  Meinand Ginsburg (1997)who retained  Neotetracusand  Neohylomysas separate genera.
