        <spm:hasContent> Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-flagellated, ovoid, rod-shaped bacterium (0.5-0.6 μm wide, 0.7-1.0 μm long). Colonies grown on MRS agar are white, circular, convex, and glistening. Oxidase activity is negative. In the API 20NE test, cells are positive for nitrate reduction; aesculin hydrolysis; β-galactosidase activity, but negative for indole production; glucose fermentation; gelatin hydrolysis; activity of arginine dihydrolase and urease; and assimilation of D- glucose, L- arabinose, D- mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetyl-glucosamine, D-maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid. Strain AM8( =NIBRBAC000503326) was isolated from a kimchi sample collected from Andong, Republic of Korea( 36°33 ʹ54.0 ʺN, 128°43 ʹ28.0 ʺE).</spm:hasContent>
