Type-species:  Anthomyia alma Meigen, 1826, orig. des.   Diagnosis.Head long; two pairs of reclinate orbital setae; antenna inserted on upper half of the head; ocellar seta strong; arista long-pectinate in male and long-plumose in female in New Caledonian species; ocellar triangle long, reaching lunula; dorsocentral setae 1+3; hind tibia with 2 short posterodorsals, 2 anterodorsals, 1 short anteroventral, and an apical posteroventral; sternite 1 bare.   Comments.The genus was first recorded from New Caledoniaby Shinonaga et al. (1991, as  Pectiniseta Stein, 1919). Pont (1972)revised the Australasian species of  Pectiniseta, and both  P. pectinataand  P. occultawere treated in that paper.
