Material examined. Stn. IMI— 15.iii. 2006, 22 m, S141: one colony with a few hydrothecae and no gonothecae, epizoic on Symplectoscyphus subdichotomus.
Description. Stolon tubular and tortuous, creeping on Symplectoscyphus subdichotomus, from which arise, at irregular intervals, slender hydrothecae on relatively short, unbranched pedicels. Both pedicel and hydrotheca with thick perisarc. Pedicel straight, with perisarc smooth or slightly undulated; pedicel length 394–1169 µmand 56–77 µmin diameter. Hydrotheca deep campanulate ( 493–750 µmhigh), walls parallel to slightly diverging, tapering more abruptly towards base; walls corrugated, especially in upper and middle parts of hydrotheca, showing fine transverse striae on external surface. Rim with 8–10 triangular cusps, with rounded but still pointed tips, delimited by relatively deep, rounded embayments; diameter at rim 291–405 µm. Rim occasionally renovated. Hydrothecal base without internal constriction of perisarc delimiting a basal chamber; a fine diaphragm present; subhydrothecal spherule absent. Hydranth with ca16 cateniform tentacles. No gonothecae.
Remarks. This is probably a juvenile specimen of Clytiasp., but the present identification at genus level is provisional, awaiting the discovery of new, fertile material. Records from Chile. The present material originates from Isla Millar.
