White [194,611,1267,1293] Magnoliopsida Fabaceae Daviesia Plantae Fabales 98 Tracheophyta species grahamii      Daviesia phyllodinea  Moore (1920: 168). Type: Western Australia, Belka, F. Stoward352, 1917. Holotype: BM. Intricate, many-stemmed shrubs, 0.2–0.5(–0.7) m high and 1 mbroad, appearing glabrous but minutely scabrous. Root anatomynormal (unistelar). Branchletsascending, angular, ribbed. Phyllodesscattered, erect, narrowly obovate, oblong or elliptic to linear, obtuse to acute at apex, apiculate with a hard point but not or scarcely pungent, slightly recurved at margins, tapered to the articulate base, 0–50(–80) × 0–3(–8) mm, rigid, dull green to yellow-green; venation prominent, especially midrib and 2 longitudinal intramarginal veins (in broader phyllodes, anastomosing lateral veins are also visible); phyllodes reduced, sometimes to scales, towards branchlet apex; stipulespresent, erect to recurved, subulate, 0.6–1.1 mmlong. Unit inflorescences1–4 per axil, 1–(2)-flowered, appearing sessile; peduncle 0.8–2.5 mmlong; subtending bractserect to spreading at 45°, narrowly obovate-oblong or linear, fimbriate, with slightly incurved margins, ca. 1.5 mmlong. Pedicels 1.4–3.2 mmlong.  Calyx3.0– 3.5 mmlong including the 0.8–1.1 mmreceptacle to which it is contracted, lightly 5-ribbed, variably tinged purple, especially on ribs, apices and sinuses; lobes acuminate or apiculate; upper 2 broadly to shallowly triangular, united scarcely to distinctly higher than lower 3, 0.75–1.5 mmlong; lower 3 lobes broadly triangular, 0.5–1 mmlong.  Corolla: standarddepressed-ovate or transversely elliptic, emarginate, 7–8 × 7.5–8.5 mmincluding the 1.5–3 mmclaw, richly yellow to orange-yellow, infused with dark red around the oblong yellow centre; wingsobovate-  A MONOGRAPH OF  DAVIESIA  Phytotaxa300 (1) © 2017 Magnolia Press • 99oblong, angled upward, rounded and slightly overlapping at apex, auriculate, 6–7 × 2–2.25 mmincluding the 2–2.5 mmclaw, dark red with yellow or orange tips; keelhalf broadly obovate to depressed-obovate, acute to scarcely obtuse, saccate, auriculate, 5–6 × 2–2.5 mmincluding the ca. 2 mmclaw, maroon. Stamensstrongly dimorphic:   FIGURE 40.  Daviesia grahamii. ( Fig. 40).  Chromosome number:—2n = 18; voucher Sands 639.1.6( Sands 1975).  Flowering period:—July (in north) to October (in south). Fruiting period:From November.   Distribution:— Western Australia, widespread in the interior, from the Little Sandy Desert southward to the eastern margins of the wheatbelt. The occurrence in the Townsend Ridges, near Warburton, suggests that this species may eventually be found in South Australiaor the Northern Territory.  Habitat:—In the arid zone, this species grows in deep red sand with spinifex (  Triodia) hummock-grassland. However,  D. pachylomadiffers markedly in multiple characters, most obviously its differently shaped phyllodes and terminal racemes. Both  D. leptophyllaand  D. newbeyiare closely related to  D. grahamii, especially the latter.  Daviesia newbeyimay be distinguished by its lack of obvious stipules (present but < 1 mmlong) and longer calyces ( 4.8–5.6 mmlong including the receptacle) with the upper 2 lobes united into a truncate lip.  Daviesia leptophylladiffers by its lack of obvious stipules (present but < 0.5 mmlong), several flowers per unit inflorescence and non-acuminate calyx-lobes.
