Chang 1954 [164,843,580,607] Magnoliopsida Pentaphylacaceae Eurya Plantae Ericales 1 62 Tracheophyta variety nitida rigida  Type:— CHINA. Guangxi: Jinxiu, Xiuren, Yaoshan, Nengluo, in dense forest, small shrub, flower white, 8 Dec. 1936, Zhi Huang 40574( lectotype IBSCherb. #106802!, here designated). Remaining syntype:— CHINA. Guangdong: Yingde, Wentang Shan, in sparse forest, shrub, 2 mhigh, mature fruit blue, 11 Oct. 1931, Xiang-Ri Liang 61359(IBSC-0003664!). Two gatherings, Xiang-Ri Liang 61359and Zhi Huang 40574, were designated as male and female “type” in Chinese, respectively, in the protologue ( Chang 1954). The one we designate as the lectotypehas a paper bag with the flower material dissected presumably by the original author. This species was originally described from Guangdongand Guangxi. It is treated as a synonym of  Eurya rubiginosaHung T. Chang var. attenuataHung T. Chang (1954: 46)by Ming & Bartholomew (2007).
