Notes Diopatra neapolitana, originally described from the Gulf of Naples, used to be the only Diopatraspecies recorded along European coasts. However, several recent publications have demonstrated that more Diopatraspecies ( Diopatra marocensisPaxton, Fadlaoui & Lechapt, 1995, Diopatra micruraPires, Paxton, Quintino & Rodrigues, 2010, Diopatra biscayensisFauchald, Berke & Woodin, 2012) are present along European coasts (e.g. Fauchald et al. 2012, Arias and Paxton 2013), including the Turkish Aegean ( Cinaret al. 2014). Therefore, at least some of the Greek specimens of Diopatra neapolitanacould belong to other Diopatraspecies.
