Head ochraceous centrally darker; parietalia light brown; epicranial line dark; clypeal area light brown with border darker. Antennae light yellow, scape and pedicel darker, flagellum light yellow. Pronotum light yellow with dark border and light rugosities. Mesonotum and metanotum light brown, pleura yellowish. Legs light yellow; femora light yellow; base of tibia with a light brown band, the rest light yellowish, tarsi light yellow. Forewing with several spots, venation brown and membrane light brown. A pterostigmatic crossvein present.  Male.Abdominal segments slightly sclerotized. Sternum 9 forms a short, elliptical subgenital plate ( Fig. 1). Posterior portion of abdominal tergum 10 flattened ( Figs. 1, 3). Paraprocts broad, robust and concave internally with apex truncated ( Figs. 1–3); epiproct short, scythe–shaped. Basis of cerci light yellow. Total length, 6.0 mm; width of head, 0.6 mm; length of forewing, 8.6 mm; length of antennae 6.5mmand cerci damaged.   Remarks.  Gripopteryx caparaois a small-sized species, with the male paraprocts concave as in  G. japi Lecci & Froehlich 2011, but those of  G. caparaoare much more expanded and truncated. The epiproct of  G. caparaois smaller than  G. japi.
