17. Acianthera tikalensis (Correll & C.Schweinf.) Pridgeon & Chase (2001: 246) . Pleurothallis tikalensis Correll & Schweinfurth in Correll (1965: 190). Holotype:— GUATEMALA. Petén: Tikal National Park, bordering Aguado Seca, 14 October 1959, Contreras 280 (LL[370341]!).

Acianthera markii Archila (2009: 11) . Type:— GUATEMALA: Department of Alta Verapaz, city of Senahu, Sepacuite Farm, 15 August 2006, 990 m, Archila FA-211 (BIGU[37301]).

Distribution:— Mexico (Chiapas, Campeche, Quintana Roo [ Fig. 6 ]), Guatemala, and Belize.

Notes:— Acianthera markii is only known from the specimen type collected in Guatemala, which comprises a minute, pendulous plant. The flowers of this species, however, are phenetically similar to Acianthera tikalensis in size and shape; thus, these plants are morphologically indistinguishable. The locality of A. markii is within the range of A. tikalensis ; the Archila specimen most likely corresponds to a dwarf plant of this species.
