Acosmetides furcutusa sp. nov.
Chinese name: 叉şū异IJDZñ
( Fig.1 View FIGURE 1 , Map 1 View MAP 1 )
Description. Male. Body small. Fastigium verticis conical, apex obtuse, furrowed dorsally. Eyes globular, protruding forward.Apical segment of maxillary palpus slightly longer than subapical one, apical area inflated. Pronotum short, reaching posterior margin of first abdominal tergite, anterior margin roughly straight, posterior margin rounded; lateral lobe longer than high, posterior area tapering, humeral sinus absent. Thoracic auditory spiracle exposed.
Tegmina short, slightly surpassing posterior margin of pronotum, apices rounded. Hind wings absent.
All femora without spines on ventral surfaces. Fore coxa with 1 short spine, fore tibia with 4 spines on both sides of ventral surface separately, tibial tympana open on both sides. Mid tibia with 5 spines on internal margin and 6 spines on external margin of ventral surface. Hind tibia with 24–27 spines on internal and external margins of dorsal surface separately, bearing 1 pair of dorsal apical spurs and 2 pairs of ventral apical spurs.
Ninth abdominal tergite with lateral areas slightly expanded backwards. Tenth abdominal tergite extended backwards, anterior margin with a triangular notch in the middle, posterior margin deeply concave in the middle, two lateral lobes with apices obtuse ( Fig. 1D View FIGURE 1 ). Cercus long, basal area cylindrical, basal third to middle area with lamellar expansion on inner margin; apical half incurved, apex obtuse ( Fig. 1C–E View FIGURE 1 ). Genitalia long and wide, basal third broad, other part relatively narrow, middle area curved ventrad ( Fig. 1C, F View FIGURE 1 ), dorsal surface with some longitudinal folds, near apex divided into two lobes, outer margins of lobes slightly folded dorsad, apices rounded ( Fig. 1D, G View FIGURE 1 ). Subgenital plate with basal half broad, basal margin concave, apical half narrow and curved dorsad; lateral areas near the middle with lamellar expansions, which obviously folded ventrad and basal areas slightly broad; posterior margin of subgenital plate concave, lateral lobes triangular with apices rounded; ventral surface of apical area covered with dense long hairs. Styli short conical, apices rounded, inserted on lateral margins in middle area of subgenital plate ( Fig. 1E–H View FIGURE 1 ).
Female. Unknown.
Coloration. Body yellowish brown. Dorsum of head and eyes brown. Disc of pronotum with a broad longitudinal brown stripe, which slightly broadened at metazona; lateral lobe with narrow brown stripe along ventral edge. Dorsal surface of abdomen brown, lateral surface dark brown. Outer surface of hind femur with some parallel, transverse brown stripes, genicular lobes of hind femur blackish brown, spines and spurs on hind tibia brown.
Material examined. Holotype: ♂, Jinfoshan, Nanchuan, Chongqing, 2 August, 2023, coll. Yueting Duan & Yang Wang. Paratype: 1♂, other data as holotype .
Measurements (mm). Body (distance from apex of fastigium verticis to posterior margin of tenth abdominal tergite): ♂ 8.9–9.2; pronotum (distance from anterior to posterior margins of pronotum in the midline): ♂ 4.0–4.2; hind femur (distance from base of hind femur to apex of genicular lobe): ♂ 9.0–9.2.
Distribution. China (Chongqing).
Discussion. The new species differs from the known species of congeners in: genitalia long and wide, basal third wide, other part relatively narrow, middle area curved ventrad ( Fig. 1C, F View FIGURE 1 ), subapical area divided into two lobes ( Fig. 1D, G View FIGURE 1 ); subgenital plate with broad basal half, apical half narrow and upcurved, lateral areas near the middle with lamellar expansions, which obviously folded ventrad ( Fig. 1E–H View FIGURE 1 ).
Etymology. The name of the new species is derived from male with furcate genitalia in subapical area, Latin furcutus- means furcate.
