Larsen 1996: pl. 54, fig. 687i,ii (as A. natalica natalica ). d ’ Abrera 1997: 167 (4 figs). Bernaud and Murphy 2014: 137 (8 figs, Malawi). SI: Figure 9a – j.
Forewing length: male 30.0 – 37.5 mm [mean (n = 11) 33.33 mm, SD = 1.606]; female 30.0 – 40.0 mm [mean (n = 9) 34.51 mm, SD = 2.473].
Note : males in Kilimanjaro area occur mainly in two forms, one in which the forewing postdiscal area is more or less clear orange, the other having this area with a broad darkening, including infumation of the radial, medial and cubital veins; however, intermediates occur in which the infumation is largely restricted to the veins . Females are highly variable, with more or less male-like orange forms, more olivaceous phenotypes with extensively darkened hindwings, and forms with the hindwing disc whitish, and a whitish preapical fascia on the forewings . Two males and three females from the Kilimanjaro area are illustrated (SI Figure 9) . The whitish female shown approaches f . ‘ albida ’ Aurivillius.
