Noesske, 1928:7 ( Trechus ), Type locality: Čatol jama des Bjelasica-Gebirges (weitere Umgebung von Gacko) im nordostherzegowinischen Karstlande [=Sniježnica, Tišov krš (Lakota et al., 2010:100)].
Material examined. Two males: Holotype male labelled: “Nordöstl. Popovo polje, Čatol jama?, fingierter Höhlen Name” (white label, hw)/“Weirather leg. VII.1927 Bjelašnicagebirge, Herzeg.” (white label, hw)/“Coll. prof. Dr. Noesske Ankauf 1947” (white label, p)/“Type” (red label, hw)/“Statl. Museum für Tierkunde Dresden” (white label, p) (MTD), Paratype male labelled: “Herzeg. spt.-ov. Bjelašica “Čatol” jama (?) name von Weir. fingierter wegen spionage Anderersamler VII.1927 ” (white label, hw)/“Coll. prof. Dr. Noesske Ankauf 1947” (white label, p)/“Paratype” (red label, hw)/“Statl. Museum für Tierkunde Dresden” (white label, p) (MTD).
Diagnosis. L: 4.7–4.85 mm, TL: 4.4–4.6 mm. Head large, parallel-sided, longer than wide (index HL/HW 1.33), frontal furrows moderately impressed, shorter than half of head length, with two pairs of long supraorbital setae; neck constriction distinct; genae gently convex, nearly parallel. Clypeus with four pairs of setae, labrum with three pairs of setae, outer pairs longer. Antennae long (AL 3.80 mm). Pronotum elongate (index PL/PW 1.50), slightly narrower than head, with maximum width in anterior fourth, basal part distinctly narrower than anterior, anterior angles protruding and acute, posterior angles obtuse. Elytra short ellipse-shaped, distinctly longer than wide (index EL/EW 1.70), with maximum width at middle; elytral surface covered with medial sparse and short pubescence; striae totally vanished. Site of stria 3 with three (two discal and one preapical) setae. Pore 1 of humeral umbilicate series situated at level of anterior seta of discal series.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 23 – 30 ): aedeagus relatively short and wide, gradually narrowed towards apex, sagittal aileron very large, endophallus without distinct copulatory piece. Apex short and rounded in lateral aspect, parameres wide, with two longer setae at apex.
Female uknown.
Distribution. Bosnia & Hercegovina, Gacko, Bjelašnica Mts. So far known only from the type locality, Sniježnica (=snow cave) na Tišovom kršu (=Cave No.199–Čatol jama or Cave No.212–Ajba jama, Weirather invented names, see Giachino & Lana, 2005:160,162). This cave, located at 1270 m, is also the type locality for Neotrechus ottonis bjelasicensis Winkler, 1933 ( Carabidae , Trechini ). Anthroherpon matzenaueri matzenaueri Apfelbeck, 1907 ( Cholevidae, Leptodirini ), Neotrechus suturalis suturalis (Schaufuss, 1864) and Neotrechus dalmatinus (Miller, 1861) were also reported from this cave ( Giachino & Lana, 2005, Hauser, 2011).
