TYPE SPECIES: Ceratopogon hortulanus Meigen, 1818 [= Ceratopogon flavipes Meigen, 1804 ], automatic [by designation of the same species (by original designation) for Apogon Rondani, 1856 ].
CURRENT STATUS: New replacement name for Apogon Rondani, 1856 ; junior synonym of Palpomyia Meigen, 1803 [ teste Borkent & Wirth (1997: 130) ].
FAMILY: CERATOPOGONIDAE .
