Allanthidium was proposed by Moure in 1947 to include a single species, Anthidium rodolfi Ruiz, 1938 . Subsequently, Anthidium saltense Friese, 1908 View in CoL was added to the genus by Michener (1948).
Toro and Rojas (1970) commented that Allanthidium can be recognized by the omaulus carinate and mandible of the females with five teeth. The males have T7 strongly bilobed. Allanthidium rodolfi is known only from central Chile, and Allanthidium saltense from Chile and Argentina (Mendoza, Salta). A key to Allanthidium is not provided because specimens of A. saltense were not available for study.
