Aleuritopteris farinosa (Forssk.) Fée, Mém. Foug. View in CoL 5: [Gen. Filic.] 154. 1852.
= Allosorus farinosus (Forssk.) C.Presl, Tent. Pterid. 153. 1836.
= Cheilanthes farinosa Forssk., Enum. Filic. 212. 1824.
Range: —Antilles; Mexico to Guatemala; Costa Rica; Colombia to Bolivia (PO); mountains of Africa, Asia, and the Pacific Islands.
Ecology: —Rare; terrestrial in arid to semihumid scrub and forests; 2100–2700 m.
Notes: —Unmistakeable in Bolivia. This is a variable taxon that probably represents a species complex, throughout its very wide range (see Sakai 1984a, b, c). Several names have been coined for New World members of this complex, e.g., A. mexicana Fée , A. chihuahuaensis Sakai (see Mickel & Smith 2004), but it is uncertain if they apply to plants from South America or even if they represent species distinct from A. farinosa .
