Anapos kugleri was described from Israel ( Demoulin 1973). The species has been mentioned later from Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Turkey (Al-Zubaidi et al. 1987; Kazanci & Braasch 1988; Koch, 1988); our finding is the first record from Iran.

Anapos is closely related to Afronurus and Electrogena , from which it can be distinguished by the setation of setae and spines on the hind tibiae in the nymphal stage; A. kugleri have three rows of thick spines and two rows of thin hair-like setae ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 )
