Anchylopera mandarinana Walsingham, 1900: 440 View in CoL . TL: East China (Ningpoo).
Diagnosis. This species is superficially similar to A. comptana (Frölich) but can be distinguished by the absence of an uncus in the male genitalia.
Redescription. Adult: Wingspan 15 mm in male. Forewing with costa arched towards apex; ground color pale yellow; basal patch small, dark brown; median fascia extending from middle of costa to termen, somewhat parallel to costa, with a sharp outer margin towards termen; apical spot tiny, dark brown. Hindwing grayish brown, cilia pale yellowish brown.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 9): Uncus absent, dorsum of tegumen rounded. Socii broad, with numerous long hairs. Valva strongly sclerotized, slightly arched inward, concave along costa, with a small subtriangular ventrobasal projection at base, deeply concave at ventrobasal 1/4 forming a narrow neck, cucullus broadened medially, venter evenly rounded to apex, with dense hairs along the ventral margin. Aedeagus moderately large, vesica with a bundle of approximately 30 cornuti.
Material examined. [Neimenggu] 2♂, Alihe, MidJune 1995 (SC Yan), Genitalia slide NEFU ENT0232 .
Distribution. China; Korea; Japan; Russia.
Host plant. Lespedeza bicolor Turcz. (Leguminosae) in Japan ( Issiki 1957).
Remarks. Since its description by Walsingham in 1900 based on a single specimen collected near Ningpoo, East China, there have been no records of this species from China. In the present study, we discovered two males from Alihe, Neimenggu, China.
