Notes on Biology. Adults have been captured in a variety of traps including Lindgren funnels, pitfall traps, flight intercept traps, and from the nest of B. centralis . This species has been taken in Lindgren funnels from Glacier National Park containing B. bifarius , Bombus californicus Smith, 1854 , Bombus flavidus Eversmann, 1852 , Bombus insularis (Smith, 1861) , Bombus rufocinctus Cresson, 1863 , and Bombus suckleyi Greene, 1860 ; however, the association between beetles and bees in these cases can only be tangentially inferred. For more information on these records, see Table 2.

Additional Remarks. This species is very heterogeneous in terms of size and coloration. Most specimens are dark colored with the anterior portion of the head pale; however, some individuals are remarkably pale and almost uniformly so. Such pale individuals, particularly when they also happen to be large, may be confused for other species, such as A. ochraceus . To avoid such confusion, it can be helpful to focus on the head, which is always darkest posteriorly in A. suturalis , but is uniformly yellow in A. ochraceus and A. pallidivestis . The head is also approximately quadrate in A. suturalis , whereas the head of A. ochraceus and A. pallidivestis is noticeably wider than long. If the specimen is male, the very small clypeal notch ( Fig. 10 View Figs ) is a good indicator of this species, as the clypeal notches of the other yellow Antherophagus are much larger ( Figs. 2, 6 View Figs , 18 View Figs ).
