Penpoint Gunnel. To 46 cm (18 in) TL ( Miller and Lea 1972). Kodiak Island, Gulf of Alaska to Santa Barbara Island ( Eschmeyer and Herald 1983), and on mainland to Point Loma, southern California (Personal communication: Santa Barbara Natural History Museum Fish Collection, Santa Barbara, California). Benthic ; depth: intertidal to 11 m (36 ft) (min.: Miller and Lea 1972; max.: Personal communication: Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Fish Collection , Los Angeles , California). An “ Apodichthys flavidus ” from Adak Island , Aleutian Islands ( Personal communication: University of Washington, Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture Fish Collection , Seattle , Washington, UW 027056), is not this species (Katherine Maslenikov).
