Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen in a video of a specimen taken in Nissel Passage, Kavieng District, at 6–22 m depth, St. KR 4, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); a specimen observed at Balang Island , New Hanover , 0–18 m depth, St. T 21, on 6 Nov. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Cocos-Keeling and Christmas islands east to Line Islands and Samoa, north to southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found on reef flats and in lagoons, 0–6 m depth. Marine.
