Aprionus reduncus , the smallest species of the genus Aprionus , was previously known from only four males (see Jaschhof & Jaschhof 2009). The first specimen of this species in Sweden was collected in a forest nature reserve that our surveys have proven to be the most productive locality for mycophagous gall midges in all of southern Fennoscandia.

Previous distribution. Germany, Finland, Russia (Europe). Occurrence in Sweden: Småland. Specimen studied. SWEDEN: male (CEC220), Småland , Nybro, Bäckebo, Grytsjön NR, tall forest of aspen and conifers, 17 July–11 Aug. 2014, Malaise trap, M. & C. Jaschhof.
