Notes. Beck et al. (2014) proposed this species as form of P. borealis Trägårdh, 1910 . However P. crenophilus is relatively easily distinguished from P. borealis by the shape of trichobothria, absence setae l˝ on genua IV and location of setae of femora I (see details in Niedbała et all. 2022).
Subías (2022) considered this species as congeneric with P. longulus (C.L. Koch, 1841) . However, notogastral setae are shorter (c 1 <c 1 - d 1) in P. crenophilus (versus c 1> c 1 - d 1 in P. longulus ), and femora of legs I have four setae (versus three setae in P. longulus ).
