Distribution. Nearctic. Canada: NB, NF, NS, ON, QC. USA: AL, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA (NSR), ME (NSR), MO, MS, NC, NH (NSR), NY, OH, TN, VA, WI, WV.
Collection and Habitat data. The NH specimens were captured by window, flight intercept, and UV light traps; also taken in fungi/mushrooms. Collected from April to October. In Canada and elsewhere found in various kinds of decaying materials in many kinds of coniferous, mixed and hardwood/deciduous forest types as well as in various open habitats. Adults were found in various decaying fungi (common) such as gilled mushrooms, various polypore fungi, and coral fungi; among decaying vegetables/compost (common), under spruce bark in wood piles, in flood debris along rivers, in organic debris and raccoon dung at cave entrances, and in woodrat nests ( Neotoma sp. ) ( Klimaszewski and Peck 1986, Klimaszewski et al. 2018).
