1. Balbisia integrifolia R. Knuth (1912: 558) View in CoL
Lectotype (here designated): [ BOLIVIA. Depto Tarija:] Paicho bei Tarija, 3400 m, 4 February 1904, Fiebrig 3035 ( B!, isotypes G, photograph Field Museum neg. nr. 26361! GH-00043602!, S-R-8307!, US-01473167!, K-000531457!).
Balbisia integrifolia is easily distinguished from all other species in Bolivia, Peru and Chile by its undivided, ovate-acuminate leaves. Its range extends into northern Argentina and is likely closely related to two other, Argentinian species, also with undivided leaves: B. miniata (I.M.Johnst.) Descole, O'Donell & Lourteig and B. calycina (Gris.) Hunz. & Ariza Espinar.
Representative specimen: BOLIVIA. Depto. Tarija: Prov. Eustaquio Mendez, Iscayachi, 28 km towards Paicho , 3250 m, 11 November 1993, Beck et al. 22107 ( M) .
