Diagnosis. Forewing length is 11–12.5 mm in males and 11.5–13 mm in females. This species is highly polymorphic: the intensity of the suffusion in the subterminal area, the length of the postmedial line dentation and the length and width of the longitudinal strokes in the hindwing subterminal area significantly vary even within the same geographical areas (e.g., mountain). Externally, B. nigralba is very similar to its closest relative B. fasciata , but differs by the broader medial and antemedial line and spots of subbasal area, the longer dentation of the postmedial line (especially on veins M 1 and Cu 2), and the broader, more diffuse longitudinal strokes on veins in the submarginal area of hindwing. The male genitalia of B. nigralba are very similar to those of B. fasciata and differ by the distally broader valva, broader vesica and slightly more robust cornuti in vesica only. The female genitalia of B. nigralba differ from those of B. fasciata by the smaller signum, which is elliptical with a medial concavity (while that is much larger and arrowhead-shaped in B. fasciata ), and the slightly smaller appendix bursae.

Distribution. China (Sichuan, Yunnan) ( Fang 2000), Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam ( Černý & Pinratana 2009).
