Bombus vestalis obenbergeri (May, 1944)

B. vestalis obenbergeri is quite common in inland Spanish areas and has been recently found in the Pyrenees (two individuals), at 1730 and 2120 m of altitude ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ), on Acinos alpinum (L.) and Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop. In the past, 19 individuals ( Table 2 View TABLE 2 ) were recorded there ( Ornosa 1984, Castro 1989, 1996).

This Iberian subspecies was assessed as Least Concern in the Red Book of Andalusian Invertebrates (Ornosa & Ortiz-Sánchez 2008).
