Type material (2 specimens). Holotype: CHINA: ♂, labelled China: Chongqing City (×ƫm), Jiangjin District (Iŧss), Simianshan N. R. (..±hg.fss) , Ertai (ĩŝ), elevation 1000 m, 28. V .2018, Hao Xu leg.’ ( MYNU). Paratype: CHINA: 1 ♂, same label data as the holotype ( MYNU) .

Diagnosis. Body shiny, dark brown, legs, labrum, palpi and antennae brown. Frontal grooves irregular and impunctate, labrum with six setigerous punctures, clypeus with four setigerous punctures. Pronotum global, with a pair of setigerous punctures. Elytra with eight distinct striae, shoulders largely rounded, each elytron with two setigerous punctures at base, two setigerous punctures near apex.

Description. Male. Body ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ) dark brown, slender and obviously convex, dorsal surface very shiny.

Head ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ) wider than long, convex, dorsal surface shiny, lacking punctures, frontal grooves irregular and impunctate. Labrum nearly rectangular, with six setigerous punctures and slightly emarginate at apical margin. Apical margin of clypeus slightly emarginate with four setigerous punctures. Eyes large, supraorbital setae located at hind level of eyes. Antenna ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ) longer than the combination of head and pronotum. Antennomeres I–IV glabrous, V–XI densely pubescent.

Pronotum ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ), global, distinctly convex, slightly longer than wide, widest slightly anterior of middle, equally constricted at anterior and basal margins, dorsal surface shiny without punctures. Median longitudinal impression and anterior impression shallow but distinct. One pair of setigerous punctures located at anterior middle of lateral margin of pronotum.

Elytra ( Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2 ), longer than wide, strongly convex, dorsal surface shiny, each elytron with eight distinct striae. Scutellum nearly triangular, small. Shoulders largely rounded, narrow. Each elytron with four setigerous punctures, two pairs located at base and two pairs located near apex. The inner setigerous punctures of basal elytra located near base of stria II, outer punctures located at shoulders; the inner apical setigerous punctures located near apex of stria III, and the outer puncture located at apex of stria VII.

Legs simple, glabrous, only tibial apex with few thin setae, protarsomeres slightly dilated.

Median lobe of aedeagus ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ) simple, ending in a rounded tip; right paramere ( Fig. 2E View FIGURE 2 ) arcuate, slightly expanded and rounded at apex, with dense long hairs along apical margin; left paramere ( Fig. 2D View FIGURE 2 ) expanded at middle and tapered to narrow at apex, apically with several long hairs.

Female. Unknown.

Measurements (mm). BL 7.36–7.68; HL 1.09–1.15, HW 1.53–1.58; PL 2.18–2.34, PW 1.91–2.03; EL 4.094.19, EW 2.90–2.94.

Distribution. China: Chongqing City.

Biological notes. Both adults were collected on the lower surface of a damp cliff at night ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ).

Etymology. This species is named in honor of Dr. Hao Xu (MYNU), who collected the new species and donated it to us for study.

Remarks. The new species can be distinguished easily from other known Chinese congeners by the elytra with eight distinct striae. However, B. xuhaoi sp. nov. share similar habit characters with B. zhengyuandongi sp. nov.. B. xuhaoi sp. nov. can be distinguished from B. zhengyaundongi sp. nov. by the follow characters: 1) the striae on the elytra are shallower; 2) clypeus with four setigerous punctures; 3) apex of left paramere of aedeagus with several long hairs; 4) right paramere of aedeagus distinctly expanded near apex.
