Calacarus kleithria Flechtmann n.sp. ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 )
DIAGNOSIS Admedian lines forming an inverted keyhole shaped figure on prodorsal shield; empodia 4rayed and solenidia ending in large knobs. Female tibia I with a small solenidionlike structure next to basis of tibial setae.
FEMALE (n = 6) Body robust, spindle shaped, 218 (181222), 76 (7382) wide. Color in life, black with white longitudinal wax stripes. Gnathosoma: downcurved; basal seta 5 (35); antapical seta 11 (1011); chelicera 31 (2831). Prodorsal shield 54 (5155), 71 (6372) wide, anterior lobe rounded. Tubercles present, 33 (3235) apart, scapular seta (sc) missing. Median line conspicuous on anterior onefifth, between two transverse lines; median line less distinct in the next three fifths and absent on posterior one fifth of dorsal shield. Admedian lines sinuose, recurving posteriorly, forming an inverted keyhole shaped figure. Lateral design a line of three closed and one posteriorly open cell. A short pair of faint submedian lines extending forward from shield tubercles. Legs with genual seta II present. Leg I 36 (3638); femur 10 (1011), dorsolaterally with an Lshaped line, femoral seta (bv) 12 (1013); distal dorsal margin of femur with spines. Genu 6 (56), genual seta (l") 32 (3036); tibia 11 (1011), tibial seta (l') 8 (710), with a small dorsal solenidionlike structure, near basis of l' and with spines on distal margin; tarsus 7 (68), solenidion 7 (7 8), strongly knobbed, empodium 5 (56), 4rayed, dorsal seta (ft') 20 (1922), lateral seta (ft") 22 (2124), unguinal seta (u') 5(5). Leg II 33 (3235); femur 10 (1011), bv 11 (10 12); genu 5 (45), l" 6 (68); tibia 9 (810); tarsus 7 (67), solenidion 6 (67), knobbed, empodium 4 (46), 4rayed, ft' 7 (67), ft" 19 (1921), u' 4 (4). Coxigenital area: coxae I fused medially, ornated with dashes; sternal line internal, 11 (1012). Coxa II with a few dashes in front of setal basis. Coxal seta I (1b) 11 (811), 15 (1415) apart; coxal seta II (1a) 12 (1114), 12 (1012) apart; coxal seta III (2a) 28 (2842), 31 (2631) apart. Coxigenital area with 8 (810) annuli, microtuberculate. Genitalia: 31 (2931) wide, 23 (1923) long; genital seta (3a) 15 (1215). Epigynium basally granulated and distally smooth. Opisthosoma with a mediodorsal, and a pair of lateral wax bearing ridges on each side. Lateral seta (c2) 26 (2230), on annulus 3 (34) counting from genitalia rear margin. Ventral seta I (d) 63 (6167), 41 (3341) apart, on annulus 17 (1621); ventral seta II (e) 23 (23 28), 18 (1518) apart, on annulus 37 (3643); ventral seta III (f) 26 (2528), 26 (2328) apart, on annulus 54 (5361) or 8th from rear. TYPE MATERIAL female holotype, 30 female, 6 male paratypes, from Eugenia
uniflora L. ( Myrtaceae ), "pitanga", Piracicaba, São Paulo, Brazil (22° 40' 32" S, 47° 38' 00" W), 08 July 2002, coll. L.C. Lofego, on 10 microscopic preparations.
RELATION TO HOST vagrant on the upper leaf surface.
ETYMOLOGY The specific designation kleithria is a Greek word meaning keyhole and refers to the inverted figure formed by admedian lines on the prodorsal shield.
REMARKS Dorsum of tibia I in the female of the new species with a small solenidionlike structure inserted near the base of the tibial seta. A similar structure was described by Flechtmann (1999) for Shevtchenkella gnatholoba .
