Scalaspira View in CoL ? nov. sp.— Harzhauser et al. 2015: 95, pl. 3, figs 11–12.
Material. NHMW 2014/0379/0042, SL: 42 mm, MD: 24 mm,Allerding ( Austria), Fig. 9B View FIGURE 9 ; NHMW 2014/0379/0043, SL: 39 mm, MD: 23 mm, Allerding ( Austria), Fig. 9C View FIGURE 9 .
Description. “ Teleoconch of about 6 to 7 whorls, which gradually increase in convexity. Penultimate whorl strongly convex with incised sutures; one specimen displays irregular axial folds. Last whorl inflated with shallow adsutural concavity, delimiting a more prominent sutural cord; rest of whorl covered with about 30 densely spaced spiral cords with slightly granulose surface, separated by narrow interspaces. Base rapidly contracting into a moderately long and slightly deflected siphonal canal. The few, irregularly spaced, weak, fold-like axial ribs of the last whorl become most prominent along the neck. Pear shaped aperture with thin outer lip; inner lip very narrow and thin.” ( Harzhauser et al. 2015: 95).
Discussion. The specimens are reminiscent of Gailleagrassor paratethyca nov. sp. but have a more inflated last whorl and more delicate spiral cords. The coeval Calagrassor mathiasi Kovács, Leél-Őssy & Vicián, 2023 is much slenderer and has fewer and broader spiral cords. Calagrassor hoernesi ( Bellardi, 1873) , from the Tortonian of the Po Basin ( Italy) has a similar outline but differs in its much more prominent spiral sculpture of primary cords (see Bellardi 1873: pl. 11, figs 14a–b; Brunetti & Della Bella 2016: fig. 19F). Although the specimens seem to represent a yet undescribed species, the fragmentary preservation does not allow a formal description.
Paleoenvironment. Found in an assemblage from rocky shore environments.
Distribution in Central Paratethys. Ottnangian (Early Miocene): North Alpine Foreland Basin: Allerding ( Austria) ( Harzhauser et al. 2015).
