Callicera panzerii Rondani, 1844 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1844a: 68.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Siebengebürg … Löwenberg ” [ Germany] ( Panzer 1809: 17) .
TYPE MATERIAL: see Remarks.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Callicera aenea (Fabricius, 1781) ( Peck 1988: 126) View in CoL ; nomen nudum ( Speight 1991: 8); junior synonym of Callicera aenea (Fabricius, 1781) ( Evenhuis & Pape 2020) View in CoL ; see Remarks.
REMARKS: Rondani (1844a: 68) described Callicera panzerii on the basis of Panzer’s drawing of Callicera aenea ( Panzer 1809: pl. 17), reporting that it did not correspond to any of the known species of Callicera Panzer, 1809 . This type material has presumably been lost because it is not in the MNHUB where other of Panzer’s collection is preserved (J. Ziegler, pers. comm., April 2019). Speight (1991: 8) considered Callicera panzerii as a nomen nudum because Rondani “neither associated the name with the description or figure of any species, nor mentioned any specimen as belonging to panzerii ”. Callicera panzerii is not a “ nomen nudum ” but an available name by indication (I.C.Z.N. 1999: Articles 12.2.6 and 72.5.6) as it was based on the illustration in Panzer (1809: pl. 17).
