This species develops in conifers (especially Abies , also in Picea, Pinus and Larix ). Larvae feed subcortically and then in sapwood of stems and branches of the trees ( Svacha and Danilevsky 1989; Bense 1995; Sama 2002). It has only a few described varieties. The present material is only the second record for Turkey in 41 years, and the species is probably distributed at least in north-western Turkey according to the records. So the presence of this species in Turkey is confirmed by the present work.
