Figured specimens. MP-O-2818, C, RV length: 0.367 mm, RV height: 0.217 mm; MP-O-2819, C, LV length: 0.354 mm, LV height: 0.206 mm.
Locality. Trindade Island , site Lixo Bay, Sample M17022 N.
Material. 1 RV and 7 C (dead assemblage).
Remarks. Callistocythere cranekeyensis is a rare species, occurring in small numbers in two samples of Trindade Island, with no specimens recorded in the live assemblages. The same can be observed on the Brazilian shelf, in which it is restricted to a small portion of the Northern and Northeastern regions, in a depth range of 10 to 40 m ( Coimbra et al. 1995).
Stratigraphic range. Holocene.
Occurrence and distribution. In the study area, the species occur s in Trindade Island in the following localities: Racha Island, Lixo Bay, and Orelhas Bay ( Tab. 3 View TABLE 3 ). It also occurs in modern sediments of Brazilian Northern and Northeastern shelves, Florida Bay, Puerto Rico, Belize, and the Gulf of Mexico (see references in the synonymy list).
