Canthigaster rivulata (Temminck & Schlegel 1850) —Brown-lined pufferfish

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on NTUM 12015 (1 specimen, 17.8 mm SL, St. CP 4492-9, off northwest coast of New Hanover).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: South and East Africa, Seychelles and Mascarenes east to Hawaiian Islands, north to South Korea, southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands, south to Western Australia and New Caledonia. Found near coral and rocky reefs, 0–350 m depth. Marine.
