COMMON NAME (S): Eggar, Snout moth (although this also refers to the Pyralidae ) or Lappet moth.

SYNONYM(S): Catalebeda violascens Aurivillius, 1909 ; Catalebeda tamsi Hering, 1932 .

IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).

DISTRIBUTION: Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Type locality, Fort Jameson [now Chipata] in N. E. Rhodesia [now N.E. Zambia], in Eastern Province .

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Pinhey (1975) reports that hosts plants of this taxon include Pterocarpus sp. (Fabaceae) and an unidentified grass species ( Poaceae ).
