Description

Female. Body length 1.7 mm, fore wing length 1.8 mm ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (a)).

Head. 1.7 × as wide as long, 1.3 × wider than mesoscutum. Eyes 4.8 × longer than temple in dorsal view. Temple smooth, impunctate, except minute setose punctures and shiny, remarkably constricted behind eyes in dorsal view ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (b)). Ocelli large, distance between fore and hind ocellus indistinctly shorter than minor axis of a hind ocellus, POL: OD:OOL = 1.0:2.0:4.2. Frons flat with extremely fine transverse wrinkles. Vertex between eye and hind ocellus shiny and polished, except some short transverse wrinkles behind hind ocelli. Face ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (c)) smooth, polished, indistinctly convex medially, transverse, 1.3 × wider than high. Clypeus 1.9 × wider than medial length, nearly glabrous and polished. Length of malar space 1.4 × basal width of mandible. Antenna ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (d)) slightly longer than body, with scape, pedicel and 1 st, 2 nd, penultimate and ultimate flagellomeres 1.7, 1.8, 4.3, 4.3, 2.6 and 3.1 × longer than wide, 1 st as long as 2 nd, flagellomeres following 4 th gradually shortened to apex.

Mesosoma

Length:width:height = 1.8:1.0:1.3. Mesonotum ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (e)) shiny with coarse punctures anteriorly, becoming indistinct to polished at posterior margin, notauli obvious, crenulated to anterior 1/2. Scutellar sulcus slightly curved, extremely narrow, concave, uncrenulated. Scutellum very shiny with large and shallow punctures laterally, largely polished medio-posteriorly, hind depressions large, oblong, in contact with other. Propodeum ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (f)) shiny, with distinct median carinae just reaching costulae, distinctly punctate along anterior border, posterior parts polished, anterior part 2.7 × longer than middle length of metanotum. Mesopleuron highly polished, impunctate.

Legs. Hind femur ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (i)) 2.8 × as long as its widest part. Length of hind femur:tibia: basitarsus = 1.6:2.2:1.0. Basitarsus of hind leg 0.9 × as long as tarsomeres 2–5.

Wings. Fore wing ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (g)): pterostigma, 2.7 × as long as its widest part; vein 1-R1 present, 0.3 length of pterostigma; vein r:2-SR:2-M = 1.0:6.0:2.2, 1-SR:1-M = 1.0:5.3, 1-CU1:2- CU1 = 1.0:1.1; first discal cell of fore wing 1.2 × wider than high. Hind wing ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (g)): vein M+ CU:1-M:r-m = 2.0:2.4:1.0.

Metasoma. Slightly shorter than mesosoma. T1 ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (h)) weakly striate apically, spoon-shaped, 2.4 × longer than its subapical maximum width, distinctly narrowed antero-medially. T2 ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (k)) long, about as long as wide. T3 only half length of T2, indistinctly longitudinally striate. Hypopygium not reaching apex of metasoma. Ovipositor sheath 0.7 × length of hind basitarsus, with long and short setae apically ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (j)).

Colour. Light yellow ( Figure 2 View Figure 2 (a)). Palpi and spurs pale yellow. Antenna (except scape, pedicel and apical segment yellow-brown) brown. Legs pale yellow to slightly yellow-brown at apex. Wing membranes hyaline, pterostigma (more yellow inside), veins light yellow-brown except 1-CU1 thicker and darker.

Male

Similar to female, except body length 1.9 mm and legs longer with hind femur 3.5 × longer than its maximum width.

Etymology

The specific name ‘ bulbosa ’ derives from the Latin, referring to the bulb-like distinctly projecting eyes.

Remarks

This species is similar to C. crenulator Ranjith and van Achterberg, 2019 , but differs in the following characters: scutellar sulcus not crenulated (distinctly crenulated in C. crenulator ); temple markedly constricted and short (less constricted and longer in C. crenulator ); and vein 1-R1 less than half length of pterostigma (1-R1 distinct longer than half length of pterostigma in C. crenulator ).
