Espèce type: Centrantyx rougeoti Ruter, 1978 .

Le sous-genre Nigrocentrantyx se distingue des autres groupes de Centrantyx par la bordure antérieure du clypéus sans élévation notable en son milieu, le pygidium convexe, l’apophyse mésosternale courte. Les paramères n’ont pas de denticule dans leur partie distale. Le système de coloration noir ou sombre plus ou moins entaché de jaune ou d’orange est tout à fait caractéristique. Ce sous-genre a été révisé en 2012 (DI GENNARO, 2012).
