( Figures 9–10 View FIGURES 9–10 )

Type data: Two females were found at OUMNH with original Lepeletier’s labels of identification and provenance (“Cay”= Cayenne). Although Lepeletier (1841) did not specify the number of specimens he studied, both must correspond to syntypes. One of the two females was labelled by Moure as lectotype, but that specimen is in worse condition than the other. The female in better condition is here designated the lectotype and it has the following data label: [circular label with red margin] Holotype [printed]\ Cay. [handwritten]\ Bres. [handwritten]\ Centris obsoleta Lep. ♀ Cayennae [handwritten]\ [light blue label] Lectotype Centris obsoleta Lepeletier, 1841 des. F. Vivallo, 2017 [printed] ( OUMNH). Paralectotype with the following data label: Cay. [handwritten]\ Centris obsoleta Lep. ♀ Cay- ennae [handwritten]\ Lectotype obsoleta [handwritten] Det. J. S. Moure 19 [printed] 57 [handwritten]\ [light blue label] Paralectotype Centris obsoleta Lepeletier, 1841 des. F. Vivallo, 2017 [printed] ( OUMNH).

Type locality: French Guiana: Cayenne .

Comments: The hairs on the mesoscutum and mesoscutellum of the lectotype have blackish rachis and whitish branches, as well as some yellow hairs on the tegula, anterior area of the mesoscutum and on the pronotal lobe. According to the original description, both females belonged to Dejean’s collection. This species has been only recorded in South America ( Moure et al., 2007).
