Ceratiomyxa mucida var. flexuosa Lister, Monogr. mycetozoa, ed. 1, 26. 1894
≡ Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa var. flexuosa (Lister) G. Lister , in Lister, Monogr. mycetozoa, ed. 2, 26. 1911
= Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa (O.F. Müll.) T. Macbr., N. Amer. Slime-moulds, ed. 1, 18. 1899
— Lectotypus (designated here): BORNEO. Borneo, 01ºN 114ºE, Dec. 1892, G.D. Haviland # 25 ( BM 2111 !, BM001089973 + one dry mount L:B.M.1!, engraved 2, BM001223799 ) .
[BM] 2111 / Ceratiomyxa mucida Schr. / Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa var. flexuosa / Borneo G.D.H. # 25./ 12.92/ BM001089973 + one slide L: B.M.1 engraved 2/ Ceratiomyxa / fruticulosa (Muell.) Macbr. / β. flexuosa/ Borneo 1892/ leg. GD. Haviland/ BM001223799.
NOTES: In his description, Lister (1894: 26) mentions only one specimen from Borneo (L:B.M.1). In BM we found a slide with this number and with the data of the publication, but it is in poor condition. In addition we found a sample BM 2111, labelled Ceratiomyxa mucida , from the same place. The box contains various fragments on card that are numbered 25, 30, 34, 46, 47. Number 25, is two card mounts of material with handwritten labels Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa var. flexuosa . This sample is in very good condition so we chose it as the lectotype. The dry mount L:B.M.1 is possibly a duplicate of this. In notebook VI: 89, are comments on the samples received by G.D. Haviland from Borneo on Dec. 92, and beside # 25 is written “ Ceratium flexuosum Lis. ” With a drawing of the same, so we believe this is the material studied by Lister to propose the variety. This variety is currently included by most authors in the concept of the species Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa .
