Type species — Chaetanes setiger Bates, 1864 (monotypy).
Diagnosis. Scape cylindrical, not enlarged toward apex; prothorax with prominent and conical lateral tubercles, placed at anterior area of posterior third; pronotal surface with a transverse sulcus and row of punctures near posterior margin; elytral centrobasal crest rounded, with setae, without carinae; ventrite V slightly emarginate at apex. Number of species currently included: 13; in Mexico and Central America : 6.
