Cheilanthes incarum Maxon, Smithsonian Misc. Collect. View in CoL 65(8): 5. 1915.
Range: —Central Peru to Bolivia (LP).
Ecology: —Rare (known from a single collection in Bolivia); saxicolous in exposed rocky places; 3550 m.
Notes: —Very similar to C. squamosa but with slightly narrower rhizome scales with contorted apices. The ranges of these species are not known to overlap. A closely related species is C. lonchophylla (R.M.Tryon) R.M.Tryon & A.F.Tryon , thus far known only from Cajamarca, Peru ( Tryon & Stolze 1989), but possibly expected in Bolivia; it differs in having more oblong ultimate segments (vs. orbicular in C. incarum ). Cheilanthes fraseri is also very similar.
