ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1868a: 31.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Alpibus Insubriae [Insubrian (= Lombardy, Italy) Alps]” ( Rondani 1865a: 136) [type locality for Cheilosia albiseta Rondani, 1865 ] .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype (dirty, covered with mold) ( MZUF: Box 6): Cheilosia Mgn / albicheta Rnd., Alp. Tirol. [= Tyrolean Alps] / 271 / Cheilosia impressa Loew , ♀, det. Claussen, 1988.
CURRENT STATUS: doubtful species of Cheilosia Meigen, 1822 ( Peck 1988: 121) View in CoL ; junior synonym of Cheilosia impressa Loew 1840 View in CoL ( Claussen & Thompson 1996: 278).
REMARKS: Rondani (1865a: 136) described Cheilosia albiseta from a single female: “ faemina unica … lecta [collected a single female]”. Rondani (1868a: 31) proposed the new replacement name Cheilosia albicheta for Cheilosia albiseta Rondani, 1865 , preoccupied by Meigen (1838: 127).
