TYPE LOCALITY: “ Liguria [Liguria ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype ( MZUF: Box 6): Cheilosia Mgn / erytrocheila Rndn. , Liguria / 275 / Holotypus Cheilosia erytrocheila Rondani / Cheilosia barbata Loew , ♀, det. Claussen 1987.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Cheilosia frontalis Loew, 1857 View in CoL ( Peck 1988: 102, Belcari et al. 1995a: 12); junior synonym of Cheilosia barbata Loew, 1857 View in CoL ( Claussen & Thompson 1996: 277).

REMARKS: Rondani (1868a: 29) described Cheilosia erytrocheila from just the female sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Semel foemina inventa [I found the female once]”. Claussen & Thompson (1996: 278) considered the single female in the MZUF as the holotype.
