Distribution. Siberian–Far Eastern, subboreal. Republic of Buryatia,?Zabaikalsky Kray, Amurskaya Oblast, Jewish Autonomous Oblast, southern part of Khabarovsky Kray, Primorye, Sakhalin Isl., Kuriles (Kunashir Isl.). Outside Russia in China (NE, N, Central, SW and SE), Korea, Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Tsushima, Okinawa Isl.).
Hostplants: Solidago , Vicia ( Beljaev 2016) .
Genetic note. The sibling species C. viridata and C. cloraria (Hübner, 1813) share their barcodes and sometimes present a problem for morphological identification. Hausmann and co-authors (2011, 2013) suppose that this species pair may represent a very recent speciation event whose slight, inconsistent morphological divergence is accompanied by a lack of differentiation at COI. Unlike the species pair Chlorissa viridata — C. cloraria , C. obliterata differs from them in the sequence of its DNA barcode and also, as we have shown ( Makhov & Lukhtanov 2021), in the structure of male genitalia. Hence, this species may be reliably distinguished at least by male genitalia structure.
