TYPE LOCALITY: “ Caucasus [Caucasus]”.
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, holotype (missing right wing) ( MSNG): Caucaso, 1862, Viag. (= viaggio) [journey] Doria / Typus / Codionus chlorizans Rndn. / Codionus chlorizans Rndn., 1873 , n. g., n. sp.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Conophorus nobilis (Loew, 1873) ( Zaitzev 1989: 104, Evenhuis & Greathead 1999: 193, 2015: 204).
REMARKS: Rondani (1873f: 299) described Codionus chlorizans , without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from a specimen collected by G. Doria . Guiglia (1957: 194), Raineri & Rey (1996: 31), and Evenhuis & Greathead (1999: 193) reported the holotype (♂) in the MSNG.
