Corynoneura bodoquena sp. n.

( Figs 1–2)

Type material. Holotype male with pupal exuviae, BRAZIL, MS, Bodoquena , Fazenda Califórnia, stream near Malaise trap n° 4, 20°41´49.9´´S, 56°52´54´´W, 2–3.iv.2012, Wiedenbrug GoogleMaps . Paratypes: male with pupal exuviae, female with pupal exuviae, two pharate males with pupal exuviae, two pupal exuviae all same data as holotype.

Diagnostic characters. The male of C. bodoquena is differentiated from the other species which also present phallapodeme attachment placed in the caudal apex of the sternapodeme, phallapodeme sclerotized on posterior margin and apex of hind tibia with a s-shaped seta, by the antenna plumose with 7 flagellomeres, aedeagal lobe with a wide base apically pointed, inferior volsella low and rounded, not apical. The pupa has anal lobe rectangular with posterolateral corner with diagonal sclerotized lines, tergites IV –VIII with 4 taeniate lateral setae of about the same size, TII-VI with a posterior row of very strong spines and sternites with shagreen only.

Etymology. The specific epithet is named after the type locality and is treated as a noun in apposition.

Aedeagal lobe with a wide base, apically pointed. Sternapodeme rounded, phallapodeme caudal attached. Phallapodeme posteriorly sclerotized and rounded.

Metric and meristic features in Table 1.

Pupa (n = 3)

Total length 1.21–1.27 mm.

Color (exuviae). Cephalothorax light brown, abdomen transparent except greyish muscle markings.

Cephalothorax. Frontal apotome granulated. Thorax suture almost smooth except scutal tubercle region with small wide spinules. All Dc-setae thin taeniate, except Dc 3 taeniate 70–82 µm long. Dc 1 displaced ventrally. Wing sheaths with two to five rows of pearls.

Abdomen ( Figs. 2A–D). Tergite I and sternite I and II almost bare, tergite II–VIII with fine shagreen and posterior row of very strong spines, spines at TII and VIII smaller. Sternite III with very fine shagreen, SIV-VIII with fine shagreen. SVII with posterior shagreen slightly stronger. Conjunctives TII/III and TIII/IV with few spinules. Segment I with 1, II with 3 L-setae, III with 3 taeniate L-setae and IV-VIII with 4 long taeniate L-setae. Anal lobe rectangular, posterolateral corner with diagonal sclerotized lines ( Fig. 2C). Anal lobe with fringe restricted to posterior margin, 3 taeniate macrosetae and inner setae taeniate.

Metric and meristic features in Table 3.

Remarks. Pupal exuviae of C. bodoquena sp. n. were collected in small streams with stony bottom and coarse sand of a Semideciduous Forest in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil.
