Taxonomic notes: — Croton staechadis was rediscovered during this study. This species is extremely viscid, and the leaves are generally folded in both fresh material and the herborized specimens. The staminate flower differs from the remaining species of subsect. Medea by its calyx with stipitate glands on the margin. In general, this character is restricted to the calyx of the pistillate flowers.
